apple ipad air oled ipad profathimacrumorsApple is reportedly planning a new 11-inch iPad Pro equipped with a mini-LED display expected to be released in 2022. This follows an earlier report that the company was scrapping its plans to release an OLED iPad Air in 2021.

According to noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new tablet will be equipped with a mini-LED display that is brighter and more power efficient than traditional LCDs and OLEDs. It will also boast higher contrast and a wider color range, making it ideal for professional users who use their devices for content creation, video editing, and photo editing tasks. In addition, the display will also be thinner and lightweight, making it perfect for on-the-go use.

In addition to the 11-inch iPad Pro with a mini-LED display, Apple is rumored to develop an 8- or 9-inch version. These tablets target budget buyers without high-end features like FaceID or 6GB RAM like some Pro models.

With Apple expected to unveil its first mini-LED device sometime in 2022, consumers can expect even more innovation from Apple’s always-evolving device lineup. Stay tuned for more updates!

Apple’s Plans for OLED iPad Air

Apple has recently dropped its plans to introduce an OLED iPad Air. However, they are still planning to launch a new 11-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED technology in 2022. This update on Apple’s plans comes a few months after they originally announced their plans to introduce an OLED iPad Air in 2021.

Let’s explore why Apple has decided to scrap the OLED iPad Air and focus on the mini-LED 11-inch iPad Pro instead.

Apple’s Decision to Drop Plans for OLED iPad Air

Apple reportedly has decided to drop plans for producing an OLED version of its iPad Air and instead focus on creating a new 11-inch model with a mini-LED display in 2022.

The newest iPad Air was introduced in March 2021 with a 10.9-inch LCD, with speculation that Apple may have been considering upgrading to OLED technology. But the company has since dropped plans for introducing an OLED display and will release a new 11-inch model with mini-LED technology by the end of 2022.

Mini-LED is a newer, more advanced form of LED technology that offers higher image quality, better color accuracy, richer contrast, and better power efficiency than traditional LCDs. Apple is reportedly considering introducing mini-LED displays on other devices like the company’s MacBooks.

The decision to drop plans for an OLED iPad Air could be a slight setback in Apple’s goal of introducing more OLED displays across its product lineup. However, the company is still looking to develop even more advanced technologies for its devices regarding both shows and performance capabilities.

Reasons Why Apple Dropped Plans for OLED iPad Air

Apple has reportedly dropped plans to launch an iPad Air with an OLED display. This decision was made due to the high cost of equipping the OLED show and the current availability of higher-quality mini-LED technology.

The news comes from multiple sources familiar with Apple’s plans and products which, speaking anonymously due to not being authorized to talk publicly about unreleased products, said that Apple was slated to release a 10.8-inch OLED iPad Air this year but decided against it after it became clear that its current 9.7-inch program would struggle to make room for what would be a third mid-sized iPad option.

The same sources confirm that Apple will still release a new 11-inch iPad Pro later this year and potentially in the second half of 2021, featuring the new mini LED technology, which recently became available in devices from other companies such as Dell and Asus. According to reports from 9to5Mac, this device will be very similar in form factor and design to the current generation of iPads Pro but with a smaller camera bump and no Face ID or True Depth camera. Additionally, the cost is expected to be lower than current iPad Pro models, making them more appealing for those on tighter budgets for tablet PCs.

Despite dropping plans for an OLED iPad Air, sources said that Apple still has new software updates planned for all sizes of the iPad regardless of display type in 2021, so consumers can expect some level of upgrades anyway, even if hardware changes are limited until next year when their mini LED 11-inch iPads are released. Until then, they can always opt for one of this year’s updated models with Liquid Retina displays and more power under the hood like what is found on their recently announced 8th Gen iPad Air or 8th Gen model iPad Mini models!

Apple drops plans for OLED iPad Air, new 11-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED still coming in 2022

Apple recently dropped its plans for an OLED iPad Air but is still moving forward with its plans to release an 11-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED technology. This new iPad Pro is expected to be released sometime in 2022 and will feature several new features, including a better display and improved performance.

This article will examine what this new iPad Pro will include and why it could revolutionize the tablet market.

Features of 11-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED

Apple reportedly plans to launch a new 11-inch iPad Pro with a new display technology, mini-LED. This display will offer up to 10 times better contrast ratio than LCD and power efficiency than OLED. The device is expected to be available in the second half of 2022.

The 11-inch iPad Pro with mini LED technology promises to deliver improved picture quality while maintaining a thin, light form factor. It will have up to 12 window levels of brightness control and a peak brightness that is higher than current devices, being able to hit 1200 nits without requiring larger bezels due to its minimized backlight design.

In addition, it promises improved color accuracy as it supports wider color gamuts like DCI-P3 or Adobe RGB plus local dimming for deeper blacks and an enhanced contrast ratio in dark scenes when watching movies or videos. The device should also bring improved outdoor visibility due to the more uniform backlighting and power efficiency as the mini LEDs keep consuming less energy when compared to LCDs.

Reasons Why Apple is Developing 11-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED

The 11-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED technology is still on Apple’s plans for the upcoming year. As Apple has previously dropped plans for an OLED version of its iPad Air, experts believe the company is setting its sights on the more superior mini-LED display. Mini-LED displays provide better color accuracy and contrast compared to OLED technology which is commonly featured in smartphones today.

Aside from having superior picture quality, mini-LEDs also bring several advantages to power efficiency and longevity compared with other LED technologies. For example, mini-LEDs tend to produce less heat than regular LEDs and consume less power. These features extend the life of the device considerably more than standard LED technology might. Furthermore, such a display could be used for multiple years of service if manufactured properly due to its energy-saving capabilities and longer-lasting performance strength.

In addition, mini-LED panels leave users with a brighter screen that offers deeper blacks by relying on hundreds of tiny LEDs instead of the typical higher number of larger LEDs found in most displays today. With such advancements already steadily being developed over recent years, it should be no surprise that Apple is keenly focused on producing this 11-inch iPad Pro with a smaller bulb alternative based on mini-LED display panels.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Apple has reportedly dropped plans to introduce an OLED iPad Air due to yield rate issues. However, Apple will continue producing the 11-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED technology, which is expected to arrive in 2022. Mini-LED is a newer and improved display technology that offers better color accuracy, vibrancy, and brightness levels with lower power consumption. This could be a display technology breakthrough and make iPads even more powerful and efficient than ever before.

For all these reasons, despite the OLED iPad Air being scrapped, there is something great to look forward to shortly for Apple’s tablet lineup!
