how to win civ 4
In Civilization games, it is important to have a good start. The beginning of the game usually determines who will win in the end. Here, we want to give you a good start in order for you to stand a chance in later stages of the game.
As is stated by Sid Meier, “The most fun comes from struggling with your own mistakes rather than from playing perfectly.” So don’t be afraid to make mistakes. It’s all part of the learning process!
The different aspects of the game
Civilization 4 is a complex game with a lot of things going on. Even if you know what to do in most situations, it can be hard to remember all the details. The different aspects that come into play are:
1) Building your empire
2) Developing cities
3) Fighting wars
4) Trading with other civilizations
5) Diplomacy
6) Science
7) Aesthetics
We’ll touch on each of these briefly, but we won’t go into too much detail. If you want to know more about a specific aspect of the game, read one of the other guides available at civ4.com
How to start a new game
Beginners often have trouble playing the game because they don’t know how to start. You can play without knowing some of these tricks, but it will be tough. So here’s what you do:
– Press ESC to access the main menu – Select “Single Player” – Select “Custom Game” (if it isn’t already selected) – Press the “Load” button and select any of the map files (they have names like Earth1503)
– Click the “Play!” button to start when you’re ready.
Managing your resources
The first thing you’ll need to do is manage your resources. For example, if you have three cities and one of the cities has iron nearby but no coal, this city will have a problem producing units that require coal because it doesn’t have any nearby. You can solve this problem by either building improvements on the tiles around that city or by trading for resources (you can trade using the diplomacy screen or by making map trades).
Developing your civilization
The next thing you should do is develop your civilization. How fast you advance depends on what civilization you are playing as and how big of an empire you have. Here are some general tips:
– The more production your cities have, the faster they will grow – Your first settler should go to a grassland or flood plain with good production
– Your first worker should improve the tiles around your capital city. If you do this, you will save a lot of time during the course of the game.
– Make sure to trade for any resources that your civilization needs
The different victory conditions
If you know what kind of victory to pursue, it will be a lot easier to get there. Here are the different victory types:
– Domination – Defeat all other civilizations and have better production than them
– Time – Build a spaceship and launch it into space before anyone else does
– Culture – Have more culture points than everyone else
– Diplomatic – Have more city states under your control than anyone else
