ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree
Publisher Untold Tales has published a trailer for ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree dedicated to the game’s world. In the trailer, the main character travels through various locations, explores the environment, and discovers something new.
The game is about the gods who have left Midgard. The once prosperous land, teeming with mythical beasts and creatures, now rots from within, corrupted by unknown forces. The guardians of the realm chosen by Odin have disappeared. In their absence, the sacred Elder Tree they swore to protect became the object of abuse. Now the only remnants of hope are kept by Estra, the daughter of the last great leader of mankind.
They showed only moments of the journey and a few plot scenes, although it is the battle screens in the game that still look the most interesting.
Among the key features of the game, the developers highlight: an interactive story, many puzzles, and unusual battle mechanics. Combat in ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree is all about rhythm, so the music is really important.
ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree releases on PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on January 27th. Prior to this, indie was only available through Apple Arcade.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink
The creators of Granblue Fantasy: Relink at Platinum Games announced the JRPG five years ago. During this time, they managed to restart development and give it to the Cygames studio.
In their New Year’s address, the latter announced that the release of the long-awaited game would take place in 2023. At the end of January, the developers will share new details.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink will offer gamers the to go through various arena locations, each of which ends with a boss. The game also has quests to explore the world – sprawling plains, snow-covered mountains, and other regions. The title can be played solo or in co-op for up to four people.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink will be released on PC, PS4, and PS5.
Xbox Live Gold
Microsoft has unveiled another selection of titles that will be available to Xbox Live Gold subscribers in January next year. This time, users will receive two games: Iris Fall and Autonauts.
Iris Fall will be available from January 1st to January 31st, and Autonauts from January 16th to February 15th. The first is a puzzle adventure game, and the second is a planetary colonizer simulator with farm elements.
Fumito Ueda
In a conversation with 4Gamer, the head and founder of the genDESIGN studio Fumito Ueda said that in 2023 he will announce his new game. According to the creator of ICO, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian, the whole team is working hard to show the public a new game in 2023.
It’s funny that in January 2022, Ueda said that he would try to present his new game to the players in the same year, but apparently, something went wrong. In March 2020, it became known that Epic Games would publish a new game from the genDESIGN studio.
The genDESIGN studio and Fumito Ueda’s latest game is The Last Guardian, released at the end of 2016.
